About Me

I know there are many fine folks who create their own personal websites out of a nostalgia for the early 00s. Certainly, I am someone this appeals to--I was a kid at the time, I had my own freewebs sites back in the day dedicated to the characters I RPed on GaiaOnline. I remember the old MySpace and Xanga days. I rememeber when Facebook was young, when Youtube looked Like That, when Crunchyroll was in its early infantsy, and when OSRS was just RS. Having a silly little whatever site is quite nostalgic for me. Honestly, I can feel it with each line of HTML I write. I remember the old webrings. I remember poking through Sonic and Pokemon fansites at my grandma's house during holidays and competing with my cousins for time on the computer.

Despite all that, this site is not necessarily meant to be that. Yes, it is supposed to be a little little whatever. But this isn't meant to be a place for me to wallow in once was. I've grown, finished school, moved out, found a spouse, had a child, lost almost every friend I had back in the day, and even several friends I hadn't even met at that time. I am still myself, but I am also not the same person now that I was when I originally had my dumb little freewebs site with my dumb little RP characters for Gaia. Frankly, I don't think I even could make such a site again. I've come so far that I don't even remember half the things I liked back then. I don't even remember all the friends I've had, or people I've ever dated, frankly. And that is way more important to me.

No, this site, despite what all the nostalgia-devouring beast in my brain desires, is meant to be a reflection of who I am today, and the things that interest me. Are somethings still the same? Sure, I still love Sonic and Pokemon like I did all those years ago. But I've also gained a deeper appreciation for fiber arts, for pixel art and chiptunes, for family and homemaking that I never thought I would have. And I would love to carve out a little niche for the things I love now, not just the things I loved then. I also want this to be a place where I can finally learn and exercise the skills of web development that I never thought I was capable of, something beyond basic HTML. I want to tackle the CSS that always intimidated me. I want to actually DO something with JS, and not just floundering my way through a high school class on the topic.

Internet Cred

I have worked on several large (well larger than just myself) projects across the net over the years. I'm very proud of the work I did, even if my contributions were very small. If you're familiar with any of these projects, I hope you enjoyed the contributions that bear my name!

The Final Outpost

I was a writer for The Final Outpost between mid 2020 and late 2024. I wrote several creature descriptions, quests, and a few odds and ends around the site during that time. My first creature was the Limaka Cevalo, and my last was the Flirtanta Flamo. Beyond writing, I also helped with exactly 2 creature sprites (the Silenta Spuristo caps and juveniles), and the Time of Day sprites were also my doing.

Dragon Cave

I've worked on several Dragon Cave events over the years, as well as submitted several pieces for their ToT and FoE events. My contributions include:

  • ToT 2020: I made the cat ninja sprite. It is meant to be a tribute to my mother's cat, Ninja, who passed away in late September that year.
  • Halloween 2020: For the event Valkemarian Tales: The Lost City, I did a small amount of writing. I am credited as Rosastrasza.
  • Valentines 2020: For the event Labor of Love, I wrote 3 stories: Thunderbolts and Lightning, A Sore Spot, and Braving the Storm.
  • ToT 2021: I made the skull goblet sprite. It's meant to be the goblet of High Lord Wolnir from Dark Souls 3.
  • Halloween 2022: For the event Murder Mystery Dinner Party, I wrote many of the room descriptions, as well as a couple item descriptions
  • FoE 2023: I made the apple tree "egg". No deep lore, I just wanted to make a happy li'l tree.
  • ToT 2023: I made the animated tree sprite, with the eyes peeking out from the tree hollow and the squirrel running up it. No deep lore, just tree.
  • Halloween 2023: For the event Pumpkin Carving, I did all of the flavor writing. This includes the introduction (minus the final paragraph), and each outcome section. I also did the 2023 ToT banner.
  • Christmas 2023: For the event A Gift of Generations, I did story planning, game pathing, and lots of the writing. This event is the one to which most of my time has been dedicated, and I don't think I'll be doing an encore preformance of that.
